Holy seamed hosiery, Batman!

Sometimes it's just one particular element of an outfit that really captures my attention.

In this case, it was the seamed tights.

Seamed pantyhose are such a feminine, vintage-inspired fashion piece that add an element of mystique to any outfit. In my opinion, these seamed tights are the star of Limy's outfit. And as with the star of any outfit, you can keep everything else very simple, thus allowing the star to shine.

Limy just finished high school and has received a scholarship to study fashion design at a prestigious school in the US. She finds fashion inspiration and clothing everywhere, including - occasionally - in the closets of her mother and sister. The boots are her mom's, the skirt is from her sister, her oversized turtleneck sweater is Tommy Hilfiger and the tights are from Milan.

Did you know...?
Seamed tights were seamed because that's how they fabricated the tights in the 1940s - they would sew them together at the back. During WWII, nylon stockings were hard to come by, so women used to darken their legs with household items like coffee or cocoa powder (the original self-tanner!), or draw a seam up the backs of their legs to give the appearance of nylons.
